CORPUS CHRISTI (KIII-NEWS) - 28-year-old Michael Ramon was captured in Houston Thursday according to the U.S.Marshal's Gulf Coast Fugitives and Violent Offenders Task Force.
Corpus Christi police say Ramon fled the scene of a fatal crash on the Crosstown Expressway on Sept. 10. The accident led to the death of 11-year-old MyKayla Recio.
According to police, Ramon made threats to law enforcement that he would have a "shootout" with police rather than be apprehended. When he was captured, officers with the U.S. Marshal's Task Force released pictures of a gun that Ramon had in his possession.
Ramon is in custody and will be returned to Nueces County.
Corpus Christi police thank everyone who provided information to help locate Ramon and for facilitating his safe apprehension.
