Taco Tuesday benefit raising money for 2-year-old Ryan Morales' funeral

CORPUS CHRISTI (KIII NEWS) - As family members grieve the loss of two-year-old Ryan Morales, who police say tragically shot himself Sunday after finding a loaded gun in his kitchen, a local family business is urging Coastal Bend residents to support the family by attending a benefit Tuesday.

According to police, two-year-old Ryan Morales and his baby brother were home with their mom Sunday on the 1000 block of Vaky Street when Ryan accidentally shot himself in the face. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The Huerta's Tamales food truck is hosting a Taco Tuesday benefit for Morales at 4 p.m. at 3512 South Staples Street. All sales will go toward the Morales family for funeral expenses. Donations will also be welcome.

Ryan's father, 22-year-old Eric Morales, had left the loaded handgun on the kitchen table before he left for work, according to police. He was charged with criminally negligent homicide.
