Texas A&M Kingsville shows plans for $60-million music building

CORPUS CHRISTI (KIII NEWS) - There are about to be 60-million more reasons to get a music degree at Texas A&M Kingsville.

Construction started on their new music building.

The Texas Legislature approved funding for the project in June 2015.

The music program has long outgrown its current facilities and this new music building is a necessity to the program’s accreditation status.

The current Bellamah Music Building was built in 1959. It was designed for 100 students and 12 faculty members. The university's program grew and succeeded.

Currently, its total number of students has reached 250, with 30 faculty members.

The $60-million project will nearly triple the facilities in size from 32,000 square feet to 90,000 square feet.
