CORPUS CHRISTI (KIII NEWS) - Two veterans with no known family members will be laid to rest Wednesday, Feb. 14, at the Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery in Corpus Christi. The public is invited to help honor them.

The first funeral will be held at 11 a.m. for U.S. Navy HM1 Randy Glade Shultz, a retired Gulf War-era veteran. Shultz served as a Hospital Corpsman in Korea and Kuwait and was awarded the Navy & Marine Corps Achievement Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Korean Service Medal and the Kuwait Liberation Medal.

The second funeral will be held at 11:15 a.m. for U.S. Army Cpl. Howard Mason Lyman, a Korea-era veteran. Lyman served with unit Co. A 1901st Engineer Aviation Battalion and was awarded the Korean Service Medal and the U.S. Service Medal.

Neither of these veterans have known family members to attend their funerals. When this is the case, Veterans Cemetery staff coordinate with the community to ensure that they receive full military honors.

If you would like to attend these funerals to help make sure no veteran is ever left behind, the Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery is located at 9974 I-37 Access Road.
