CORPUS CHRISTI (KIII NEWS) - The U.S. Supreme Court refused an appeal from 32-year old John Henry Ramirez, the man on death row for killing a convenience store clerk during a robbery in 2004.
The high court ruled without comment Monday. A lower federal appeals court earlier this year also turned down his appeal.
Ramirez's attorney said he had deficient legal help during his 2008 trial and that there were problems during selection.
Ramirez was on the run from police for four years until his arrest in the killing of 45-year-old store clerk Pablo Castro. Castro was stabbed 29 times as he took out the trash.
An execution date has not been set for Ramirez.
