Vandals cause damage to Oil Belt Little League Park

The Oil Belt Little League Park in Calallen suffered damage overnight thanks to a disheartening act of vandalism.

CORPUS CHRISTI (KIII NEWS) - The Oil Belt Little League Park in Calallen suffered damage overnight thanks to a disheartening act of vandalism.

Nueces County Commissioner Mike Pusley was there Wednesday surveying the damage -- a couple of construction trucks that were on site to do improvements to the complex were the main targets.

The suspects put dirt inside the gas tank of one truck, and broke the glass of another vehicle. Damage was also caused to the bathrooms of the park.

In all, about $30,000 worth of damage was caused.

"It's just really disheartening that people would want to come out here and want to tear stuff like this up," Pusley said. "It serves no purpose, and it cost taxpayers money. We are trying to do something nice for the community, and we would hope that they would respect that."

One of the vandals cut their hand at the scene, so police said they were able to get good blood evidence as well as fingerprints.
