Victim in fatal stabbing at mechanic's shop identified

The Nueces County Medical Examiner's Office released Tuesday the identity of the victim who was stabbed Monday at a mechanic's shop on the 300 block of Navigation.

CORPUS CHRISTI (KIII NEWS) - The Nueces County Medical Examiner's Office released Tuesday the identity of the victim who was stabbed Monday at a mechanic's shop on the 300 block of Navigation.

46-year-old Benito Trevino died at the hospital from injuries he suffered in the stabbing.

Investigators said Trevino was having lunch at the shop when he was attacked by another man in the building. Police said the suspect stabbed the victim in the midsection and fled the scene.

Police quickly caught the suspect, identified as 34-year-old James Gutierrez, and he now faces murder charges.
