Women flocking to self-defense classes after recent crimes

A group from Full Contact Fight Academy are showing citizens how to protect themselves.

CORPUS CHRISTI (KIII-NEWS) - Recent stranger danger incidents around the city have everyone on high alert. Including, a woman reporting to police she was assaulted in the parking lot of the South Staples Walmart early Wednesday morning.

Now, a group from Full Contact Fight Academy is showing citizens how to protect themselves.

The instructor said the moves they teach, like how to escape a choke-hold, can save lives. They recommend practicing the moves they teach everyday, and warn that nothing good happens after midnight.

3News Reporter Heather Gustafson attended the class, which is taught by a female Corpus Christi Fire Fighter.
