Workforce Solutions welcomes hundreds to Harbor Bridge project hiring fair

Hundreds of people began lining up early Friday morning for a special hiring fair organized by Workforce Solutions of the Coastal Bend and the company in charge of building the new Harbor Bridge.

Hundreds of people began lining up early Friday morning for a special hiring fair organized by Workforce Solutions of the Coastal Bend and the company in charge of building the new Harbor Bridge.
 
Flatiron/Dragados, LLC is teaming up with Workforce Solutions to find skilled workers for a variety of positions including field engineer, laborer, forklift and crane operator, welder, cost engineer, draftsman, concrete superintendent, carpenter and cable stay bridge engineer. 
 
The $900 million project will include the construction of just over six miles of bridge and roadway along US 181, Interstate 37 and the Crosstown Expressway. Once the new bridge is built and open to traffic, the existing Harbor Bridge will be demolished. The project could take five years to complete.
 
The event opened first to Veterans looking for work at 9AM and the general public was allowed in at 10AM. The event will go on until 2PM at the Workforce Solutions of the Coastal Bend Sunrise Career Center 5858 S. Padre Island Drive, Suite 1.
