CORPUS CHRISTI (KIII NEWS) - Tuesday is Equal Pay for Women Day, a day that signifies how far into the year a woman must work to earn what her male colleagues were paid the previous year, and the YWCA held a special event to discuss "Y" you matter.
The Equal Pay Day for Women event was held at the Corpus Christi Regional Transportation Authority Tuesday. Guest speakers were on hand to discuss just how far women have come in recent years, but how there is still more work that needs to be done.
In 2015, full-time, year-round female workers earned 79.6-percent less than what their male counterparts made, and the gap is greater for black and Hispanic women.
