London ISD Students Return for First Day of New School Year

Students in the London Independent School District went back to school Thursday. The district functions in a six-weeks on, one-week off form of year round school.

Not only were the students given school supplies and text books on their first day back, but the district's new superintendent, Davis Freeman of Wichita Falls, was there. He said he expects big things from this school year, especially with the school's growth and their first graduating high school class.

"We have rapid growth going on her, so we have to be aware of that. There's a lot of development out near the district, so we are excited about that," Freeman said. "Probably the most exciting thing is our first graduating class here at London ISD. We'll have our first graduating class this spring."

The district will have its first regular week break during the first week of September.
