Luncheon Raises Funds for Local Non-Profit

An annual fundraiser took place benefiting one non-profit's mission to battle the war against drugs. The 4th Annual Celebration of Hope Luncheon took place Wednesday for Charlie's Place. The group helps those who abuse drugs get their lives back in order. Charlie's Place has been in the Coastal Bend since 1965. Organizers say every year roughly 2,000 people receive help. 3 News Anchor Joe Gazin was the emcee. Amy Granbury, C.O.O. says their program works with help from the community.

"Actually, I had a great moment after the morning news the other day, somebody ran out and told me that she had been a graduate of Charlie's Place and that we had saved her live," said Granbury. "And it makes it worth getting up every day when you hear those stories"

Charlie's Place helps people over the age of 18 and never turns anyone away just because they can't pay. You can contact them at 361-886-5350.
