Magistrate Judge Raises Bond for Suspect in Latest Homicide

Jessie Salazar, the 18-year old who turned himself in to the Nueces County Jail Monday and is charged for the shooting homicide of 29-year old Robert Lee Garcia, appeared in magistrate court Tuesday morning and had his bond raised from $250,000 to $500,000.

Police had obtained an arrest warrant for Salazar in connection with the shooting, which happened Saturday at a home in the 2200 block of Ruth Street. On that day, Garcia was found by his nephew with multiple gunshot wounds beneath a stairway.

Detectives were notified that Salazar took himself to jail at around 3 p.m. Monday.
