Make-A-Wish Foundation Sends Four-Year Old Girl to Disney World

Four-year old Sophia Parker has been in and out of hospitals her entire life, but on Monday, she and her family were able to put their worries aside and make their way to Disney World, thanks to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

If you met her, you would not think the lively Sophia has already had six open-heart surgeries due to a heart defect she was born with. Her most recent surgery was in August of last year, and she is now stable for the time being. The next step would be for Sophia to get a heart transplant if her heart was to fail again.

Still, health woes were the last thing on Sophia and her family's minds on Monday. Sophia could not wait to get on a plane that would take her on her dream vacation.

The family was picked up in a limousine and greeted by family and friends at the airport Monday morning. Sophia and her brother, Miles, were even given gifts by TSA agents and Southwest Airlines.

"We are just blessed, really blessed," said Natalie Parker, Sophia's mother. "we have a great support system. Our friends and family, and our faith that keeps us going everyday."

The parkers will be treated to six nights at the non-profit resort Give Kids the World. They will be one of the first families to stay in the newly remodeled villas, which were revealed on Good Morning America last Friday.

"Her heart condition doesn't stop her one bit from doing what she wants to do," Natalie Parker said. "She is very lively, very loving. She doesn't meet a stranger. She is the sweetest most outgoing little girl you'll ever meet."
