Man Arrested After Allegedly Harassing a Woman, Getting Into Altercation

A man with outstanding warrants for his arrest was picked up by police around 1:45 a.m. Thursday after allegedly harassing a woman near McGee Beach and getting into a fight with a man who came to her defense.

According to police, a 21-year old female that was walking south on the seawall was approached by 34-year old Johnny Monsevaiz. The female said the man began harassing her, so she started yelling.

A 40-year old male in the area heard her and asked if she needed help. He then told Monsevaiz to leave her alone. Monsevaiz punched him in the chest, so the 40-year old male punched Monsevaiz back several times, striking him in the face.

Monsevaiz sustained minor injuries and, when officers discovered that he had outstanding warrants, he was taken into custody and transported to a hospital for medical treatment. Police said the suspect became aggressive during and after treatment, at one point striking an officer in the chest with his elbow.

Monsevaiz was taken to jail for his outstanding warrants and charged with resisting arrest and assaulting the 40-year old male.
