Man Arrested After Being Accused of Threatening to Kill His Daughter

A 45-year old man was arrested just before 3 a.m. Tuesday after his 17-year old daughter called police and told them that he was following her and her friends around in a car and had threatened to kill her.

According to police, both cars were intercepted on Highway 358 near the Flour Bluff Drive exit. Officers contacted 45-year old David Gonzalez, who told them that he was trying to get his daughter and take her home. Gonzalez was found to have an active outstanding warrant and a suspended driver's license.

His daughter and her friends in the other vehicle told police that they were confronted by Gonzalez while at a store on Padre Island, and that he made threats to kill them. They drove off because they were scared, and while attempted to get away, they say Gonzalez attempted to drive his car into their vehicle to force them off the road.

Gonzalez was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and making terroristic threats of family violence. He was also charged with driving with a suspended driver's license and the outstanding arrest warrant.
