Man Arrested After Putting Out Cigarette on Police Officer's Car

A man was arrested for criminal mischief just before 4 a.m. Thursday after police observed him eyeing a parked vehicle in the Corpus Christi Police Department's John Sartain Street headquarters parking lot.

According to officer, the man was looking into the window of a parked 2011 Chevrolet Camaro before walking around to the front of the car and putting out his cigarette on its hood. The vehicle belonged to an on-duty police officer.

The suspect, identified as 44-year old Thomas Lackey, was arrested and taken to the City Detention Center. The damage to the vehicle was estimated at $1,500.
