Man Struck, Killed by Vehicle While Crossing SPID Identified

The Nueces County Medical Examiner's Office has identified the man killed while running across SPID between Nile and Airline Tuesday night as 38-year old Lazaro H. Camarillo. He was struck by a vehicle traveling down the westbound side of the freeway and was pronounced dead at the scene.

It was around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday when Camarillo ran across the freeway and was struck by a van. The westbound side of the SPID Freeway was shut down for a short period so police could investigate. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, and the Medical Examiner's Office said the cause of death was blunt force trauma.

The driver of the van is not facing any charges.
