A man surrenders after locking himself in an attic with a gun for several hours at a home just outside of Bishop. Law enforcement agencies surrounded the home Sunday afternoon as they tried to talk the armed man out of the house.
Nueces County Sheriff Deputies were called out to the home at around noon on Sunday, after family members were concerned that the young man was threatening to kill himself.
Authorities say the man locked himself in an attic at the house and he was armed with a gun. Sheriff deputies immediately responded to the house on County Road 89 west of Bishop.
Deputies set up a perimeter just to be cautious. They tell 3 News that a 25 year old man had mental issues and was threatening to hurt himself.
Authorities say he was threatening to take his life because he knew there was a motion to revoke his probation and he thought he was going to prison for life. After more than two hours he finally turned himself in. The young man will be arrested after he completes his mental evaluation at the hospital.
Authorities say he did have 2 outstanding warrants, 1 for violation of probation. The man was the only one inside the home at the time.
No one was injured.
