Metro Ministries Provides Thanksgiving Meal

Metro Ministries served up Thanksgiving meals to those staying at the shelter. In fact, one of the people cooking up Thursday's meal actually used to live at the shelter.

Richard Atkinson said Metro Ministries helped get him back on his feet, and for that, volunteering was an honor for him.

"We just like helping all these folks here. There's a whole lot of people that need help," Atkinson said. "We like doing what we can for them. It's a lot of work, but like you say, when  you go home tired, it's a good kind of tired."

"It was wonderful. By the grace of God. I tell you it was a blessing," said Paul Sexton, who is staying at Metro Ministries. "I didn't even think I was going to have a meal today."

So what was on the menu? Turkey, with all the trimmings, biscuits and, of course, pumpkin pie.
