Military Matters: Back to School Brigade

Military Matters: Mom, Wife, & Volunteer

She's a local mom and a military wife and tonight she's the focus of our Military Matters report.
You could say Brenda Crawley already has a long list of activities to keep her busy, but there is one more, she is especially proud of.
Local volunteer Brenda Crawley walked us through the Dollar Tree in Flour Bluff pointing out all the back to school goodies.
She's hopeful that the Coastal Bend will step to help a special group of children, those with military mothers and fathers.
Crawley said, "our military families have struggles they go through.  Deployment struggles they go through and with the simple supplies provided for them, it's easier for them financially as well."
The program Crawley helps out is called  "Back to School Brigade."
The nationwide school supply campaign is sponsored by Operation Homefront.
Crawley has supported the causes of Operation Homefront for six years now and the reason she helps is personal.
Crawley said, "my husband is a veteran.  He served 14 years.  This is my way of giving back to the military community."
She believes small acts of kindness even a simple school supply drive for military families helps those families remember that they are special and that they matter.
