Military Thanksgiving at Naval Air Station Corpus Christi

Holidays can be a tough time for members of the U.S. armed forces, who have to spend Thanksgiving away from family.

That is the reason for the lunch at Naval Air Station Corpus Christi on Thursday. Active duty service members who are not allowed to get home were treated to a Thanksgiving meal.

"You know, on holidays it gets lonely being away from family, the base being closed," MWA Liberty Coordinator David Moses said. "The least we can do is provide them with a meal here."

"The U.S. is a beautiful nation," said MA3 MacMillion from Houston. "Get to enjoy friends and family about this time, show appreciation to everybody that set the way before us."

Many of the sailors said the meal took away some of the pain of being apart from the family during the holiday season.
