CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii Sports) - The Moody Trojans are hoping for a state title come June, but for now they're happy with a Mira's Classic crown.
The top-ranked Trojans topped the King Mustangs 5-3 in the tournament championship game at Whataburger Field. Moody, ranked #1 in Class 4A, scored four times in the first inning and never trailed on the day. King scored three times in their final at-bat in the seventh inning before the Trojans shut it down for their first Mira's championship since 2009.
Earlier in the day Moody put three on the board in the first inning against rival Carroll, ranked #8 in Class 5A. That was all the runs for either team as the Trojans snapped the Tigers' three-year win streak at the Mira's with the 3-0 victory.
