In Brooks County, the sheriff's office has recovered the remains of 12 illegal immigrants so far this year.
"She's a, we would refer to as a fresh body, she's still all in tact. Recent body," said Chief Deputy Benny Martinez.
According to the Brooks County Sheriff's Office, that is two more than this time last year.
"Last year we were at a 35 percent decrease, and anytime you have a decrease, that's a good sign," said Martinez. "Factors, I'm guessing the weather was the primary factor."
Martinez say it is too early to tell how the numbers are tracking this year.
