Emergency crews responded to a brush fire along Highway 361 near Park Road 22 Sunday afternoon. It all began when a DPS trooper tried to pull a motorcyclist over on I-37 and Southern Minerals.
The motorcyclist tried to lose the trooper at the Mustang Island State Park, but his bike got stuck in the sand and grass.
The man was arrested and luckily no one was hurt. However, authorities say the motorcycle sparked a brush fire that grew into a few acres in the dunes. Fire fighters worked for two hours to put out the flames. The suspect is now facing a felony charge for evading arrest, and may also face a charge for starting the fire.
