Murder Trial of Lawrence Mireles to Be Rescheduled

Lawyers representing Lawrence Mireles, who was charged in the shooting death of 16-year old Jenna Hernandez, appeared before presiding Judge Bobby Galvan on Friday.

Galvan is sitting in for late 319th District Court Judge Tom Greenwell, who was supposed to preside over Mireles' trial next week.

Prosecutors and defense attorneys were told to return on Monday to discuss rescheduling the trial. For Mireles' lawyers, delaying the trial is needed to better prepare his defense.

"We needed more time because the discovery the Aransas Pass Police Department gave us 28,335 pages of Facebook in no order -- duplication, totally unorganized -- and there's a lot of potential suspects, at least five or six suspects, that could have done this murder, and they're not coming forward," Mireles' attorney Steve Fischer said. "So it's a hard case."

Hernandez was shot to death a year ago. Her body was found near Redfish Bay a few days later.
