National Heat Stroke Prevention Day Thursday

It has been another long, hot summer in the Coastal Bend. Recently, heat indexes have been hovering in the triple-digit range. Thursday, however, is National Heat Stroke Prevention Day, and Driscoll Children's Hospital wants people to be aware.

It happens several times a year -- children being left behind inside vehicles. The numbers are staggering. So far in the U.S. this year, 18 children have died from heat stroke after being left in a car. Last year, 44 children lost their lives the same way.

So hospital workers want to make sure everyone in the community is aware of the dangers.
