A wildfire continues to burn in southern New Jersey.

The flames have charred 12-thousand acres so far and forced more than two-thousand families from their homes. Firefighters may get some assistance this afternoon (tuesday). There is a chance of rain in the region.

The fire started Tuesday afternoon on a military aerial bombing range along the border betweenBurlington and Ocean counties.

The New Jersey Air National guard says a flare dropped from one of its planes may have started the fire.
