Neighbors Hear Crash, Find Truck Wrapped around Tree

Some Corpus Christi residents got a scare when a truck slammed into a tree Sunday morning.  The crash happened after two in the morning on Bonner Street and Etheridge.  Investigators say it started when a vehicle at a stop light on Staples and Holly was clipped by a passing truck.  The driver decided to follow that truck while calling police.  That's when the truck lost control, ran over a stop sign, and then slammed into a tree.  We spoke with a homeowner who says he has never heard a noise like this.  Ray Soza Junior says if the tree was not there, the truck would have plowed straight through his son's room. "We were sleeping and we heard a bang and a loud noise outside. Sometimes the transfers were going to go out here in this block area and that's what wakes us up. But this was different noise."  The driver of the truck was arrested and is facing charges of DWI.
