New Insurance Surcharges on Coastal Residents if Hurricane Comes

Hurricane season is right around the corner, and on Friday, the Texas Department of Insurance announced a new regulation that will require Coastal Bend residents to pay significantly more for insurance if we are hit by a hurricane.

If a hurricane were to hit us, the Texas Department of Insurance will hit coastal residents with surcharges, and not just on our home insurance policies, but also auto, farm and ranch, among others.

The Texas Department of Insurance said the new regulations are needed to pay for the dwindling windstorm reserve.
