Corpus Christi (Kiii News) - The artist who worked on the bronze Selena statue along the bayfront has done it again. Friday, crews used a crane to move a huge statue into place at Oleander Park. The eye catching art piece is called the "Wind Dancer." It's the work of artist Buddy Tatum. He says "Windy" stands at least 16 feet tall, weighs a whopping 15 hundred pounds, and also acts as a compass of sorts for sailors. Tatum told 3 News, "she faces south so she can be a reference point both from the land and the sea. Our prevailing winds are south winds so she's facing into the wind, like a sail boat going through the eye of the wind."
The statue was donated to the city by the Dusty Durrill family.
