New Study says Flu Shot Can Help Prevent Heart Attacks

Flu shots are important, not only for your overall health, but also for your heart.

According to the Centers for Disease Control, 20,000 people die from the flu every year, and 90-percent of them are older than 65; but doctors say a flu shot can do more than just ward off influenza.

A new study in the Journal of American Medical Association shows it a flu shot can also prevent heart attacks. Authors of the study say those who received the shot were at a 55-percent lower risk for a heart attack.
