When I was born, my mom tells me that I didn't cry. Instead, she says, I just looked around wide-eyed and curious about the world. About thirty years later, my reaction to life is about the same.
Growing up I constantly asked the question “why” and today I have made a career out of it. Being a reporter is my dream job and I couldn't imagine doing anything else.
My first professional TV job I landed was in my hometown of Honolulu, Hawaii. For two years, I reported on everything from the 2006 earthquakes, to a tiger escaping from its zoo enclosure, to sumo wrestling. One of my most memorable times was traveling to Eloy, Arizona, where a third of Hawaii inmates are imprisoned. I wrote a four-part series on the two desert prisons, and how those Hawaii inmates are staying in touch with the islands.
Before that, I was an anchor and reporter for my college TV station at the University of Maryland. I graduated with two bachelors degrees: one in broadcast journalism and the other in criminology. My goal was to become a crime reporter.
Now that I am in Corpus Christi, I’ve segued into covering more upbeat stories. You can catch me on KIII First Edition reporting on the fun things to do around town. So far, Corpus Christi has proved to be a welcoming town with great people. Life is good, and I’m curious what the future will bring.
