Mike Pesina - Meteorologist
Mike's first forecast can be seen on KIII TV's Early Edition with Regina Garcia. He then updates that forecast during the 5 and 10pm Weekend Edition with Andrew Whitman and Allen Harwell. For three decades, Mike has worked in radio, television and even been in the military. It all started in 1972 with his first radio news job while still studying radio and TV at John F. Kennedy High School's KHS-77 district television station in San Antonio. He joined the U.S. Air Force and served as communications specialist and his love for avionics kept him close to the flight line. That's where he learned the difference between IFR and VFR along with the importance of pilot weather briefings. He still carries around his instructor's pilot weather manual to remind him of his introduction to weather. His second major introduction to weather came in the form of a hurricane. Mike was chief forecaster for a TV station down in the valley, where he spent numerous, gut wrenching hours keeping the public informed, as the eye of Hurricane Allen made landfall nearby. The lure of sailboats and the coast brought Mike to Corpus Christi for a while, where he anchored and reported news. He returned to San Antonio to forecast weather and was again faced with the effects of tropical weather. That's where Mike would report on severe storms and tornadoes produced by Hurricane Gilbert, which affected much of Texas. As a Veteran, Mike wants to get involved with local V.F.W. Posts to help promote those who've served their country in uniform. As a broadcast meteorologist, He's anxious to share his weather experience with this coastal community he now calls ... home.
