Manuel De La Rosa

Manuel “Manny” De La Rosa is our Area 3 News Reporter and covers most of our stories outside of Corpus Christi and enjoys visiting the small communities. He enjoys meeting the leaders and residents and getting to know about their areas. Manuel said it's an honor to serve them and report on the issues that are important to these areas. It's an area that mostly goes unnoticed by other stations, except for KIII-TV. Manuel is the only reporter assigned to cover the smaller areas in the market. During most of his career, Manuel has always emphasized the importance of treating people fairly and being humble about his job. By doing that, he has gained the trust of his contacts and residents in those areas.

During his career, Manuel has worked in a number of markets in the Southwest, but he always been treated the best in South Texas. He started working in 1993 at KAVU-TV in Victoria. From there, he has worked as a reporter in Waco, Tucson, Central California and the Rio Grande Valley. He also worked for nearly three years in the LA Bureau as an associate producer of Trial Coverage for Court-TV. He calls it the best time of his life as he learned about legal and crime reporting. Many police officers, attorneys and judges enjoy doing stories with him because of his vast knowledge of the legal system. He's one who always enjoys watching Court TV or True TV as it's now known when he's at home.

Manuel was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. He graduated with a degree in Broadcast Journalism from the University of Southern California in 1991. He's very proud of LA roots and you can catch him cheering on his favorite sports from the city of Angels on his off time from work. While he now lives in Texas, he gets harassed by many of friends and colleagues about being from LA, but remains loyal to his hometown.

Manuel has always been a leader in broadcast journalism. He has been a member of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists (NAHJ) since 1990. He was the organization's Vice President of Broadcast from 2006 to 2008 and served as the region director for Texas for a year prior to that. He's also has served as the ex-oficio board member of the Radio and Television News Director Association while VP of Broadcast for NAHJ.

Manuel met his wife Alma while working as a reporter in Victoria at a business mixer. The two dated and eventually got married. They have been married for 13 years. They have two children, Denisse, 17, and Manuel II, 12. His wife and kids are the love of his life and they enjoy living in the Coastal Bend.
