One Adult Killed, Two Children Injured in Collision Near Skidmore

One man is dead and two young children were rushed to the hospital following a horrific accident on Highway 359 just west of Skidmore Wednesday afternoon.

Department of Public Safety officials said it was around 12:30 p.m. when a Dodge Durango traveling in the eastbound lane of Highway 359 veered into the westbound lane, striking a van head-on, causing the van to burst into flames.

The driver of the van, 32-year old David Salazar, Jr., was pronounced dead at the scene.

Meanwhile, two children in the Durango -- a two-year old boy and a two-month old girl -- were sent via HALO Flight to Driscoll Children's Hospital and Christus Spohn Beeville respectively. At last report, both were in serious condition.
