One Arrested, 500 Pounds of Marijuana Found After Chase in Jim Wells County

A pursuit that began in Duval County ended in Jim Wells County with the arrest of one man and the discovery of more than 500 pounds of marijuana in his vehicle.

It was around 8 p.m. Thursday when deputies attempted to pull over a Dodge Durango on County Road 425. The driver refused to stop and led the deputies on a chase into neighboring Jim Wells County. When the vehicle finally came to a stop, four people bailed out and ran into the brush.

One unidentified man was caught with the help of a Department of Public Safety helicopter.

Authorities searched the vehicle and found around $200,000 worth of marijuana inside.
