One of Three Suspects Arrested in Overnight Burglary

One man was arrested and charged with burglary to a vehicle, evading arrest, possession of marijuana and criminal mischief after police say he broke into four vehicles in the fenced in area of a business on the 4000 block of Baldwin Boulevard Thursday night.

It was around 11:20 p.m. when officers responded to a call about three males inside the fenced in area of the business. When they arrived, the suspects all jumped the fence and fled the area. One suspect, 17-year old Ruben Delacruz, was found hiding in some bushes in a nearby neighborhood and taken into custody.

Police discovered that the three males had used bolt cutters to cut through the chain link fence of the business. The manager of the business estimated that the damage to the fence would cost about $1,500. The suspects also allegedly broke into four vehicles on the property and stole items from them. The stolen property was returned.

Officers also found marijuana in Delacruz' possession. Because of the amount of damage done to the fence, he was additionally charged with criminal mischief, a state jail felony.
