Overnight Apartment Fire Leaves Corpus Christi Woman Homeless

A Corpus Christi woman was left homeless after a fire broke out at her apartment in the Treyway Terrace Apartments just after 2:30 a.m. Monday.

No one was home at the time of the fire -- neighbors said the tenant of that apartment was out of town at the time. Investigators said the fire was quickly contained, but there was a significant amount of damage.

"That apartment is not livable," said Battalion Chief Doug Matthijetz of the Corpus Christi Fire Department. "There is quite a bit of damage, mainly to the main bedroom."

Two of the woman's dogs went missing after making it out of the fire and running off. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
