Pickup Truck Mangled in Rollover Accident Near Agnes

Slick roads and high speeds are to blame for a bad accident along Highway 358 near Agnes Wednesday morning.

Police said the driver of a pickup truck was clipped by a red car that was switching lanes. The contact caused both vehicles to lose control on the freeway.

The truck ended up busting through a guardrail and rolled a couple of times down onto the North Padre Island Drive access road. The driver of the truck was taken by ambulance to get checked out.

A passenger in the red car was also taken to the hospital. Both are expected to be okay.

"Have you seen a pit maneuver on a police car? That's what happened," said Sgt. Olga Flores of the Corpus Christi Police Department. "She switched lanes. Her front corner clipped the rear corner of his truck and made him spin around."

Police said the driver of the red car will get a ticket for causing the accident.
