Pipeline Flaring at Sends Large Flames in the Air

Maintenance flaring at the Dow Chemical pipeline in the Annaville area had some 3News viewers concerned Tuesday morning.

Flames could be seen leaping from the stacks throughout the day off Violet Road between I-37 and Highway 44. Flaring is a process that is done to relieve pressure in the pipelines during maintenance.

There were no nearby structures threatened by the flames, but the sight did spark the concerns of area residents.
