The driver accused of causing the head-on collision that killed 20-year old Angel Zavala on Highway 361 just before 2 a.m. Sunday has been arrested and charged with intoxication manslaughter.

Samuel Herrera, 24, was delivered to the City Detention Center Thursday after he was released from the hospital. Police say he was intoxicated at the time of the accident, which happened between Newport Pass and Beach Access Road 3.

If convicted, Herrera could face up to 20 years in prison and up to a $10,000 fine.
