Police Follow Leads in Local Robbery Sprees, Need Public's Help

Police have leads in a string of robberies that they say are being committed by two different men. Pharmacies have been robbed, as well as pizza shops, all around town.

The Walgreens pharmacy at Morgan and SPID was held up by a man with a knife Thursday afternoon.

Police said a Hispanic male wearing a ball cap, sunglasses and an orange sweatshirt waited patiently in line until it was his turn before robbing the store.

The day before, the CVS pharmacy at Staples and Ayers was hit by the knife wielding man. Still pictures captured him in action, and police believe it is the same man.

Then, another robber wearing a mask and carrying a gun has robbed several Domino's Pizza stores. Early Friday morning, police believe he held up two employees from the Staples and Doddridge store as they tried to make a night deposit at a bank.

Earlier in the week, it is believed that the same man held up another Domino's Pizza at the Bel Air Shopping Center, near Del Mar College. He and another man also hit a convenience store on Mohawk late Wednesday night.

Surveillance video at the CVS at Staples and Ayers taken Thursday afternoon, along with video from Friday's robbery, shows that they appear to be the same man, and that man is likely the same man responsible for two other pharmacy robberies in the two weeks before this current robbery spree.

One young man said he believes he saw the suspect just before Friday's robbery.

"Our CVS robber, on the last one, got on the city bus and got off the city bus not too far away, and we have video of him on the city bus, also, so I think he's going to be a local because he knew our bus system and was comfortable with that," said Captain Hollis Bowers of the Corpus Christi Police Department. "We do have indications that these guys are involved in other robberies besides these places, so we have leads and places we're going, and we think they're local."

Police said they do need the public's help tracking down these crooks. They do believe someone out there knows who they are, and would like to be able to get their hands on them before the next holdup.

Police said the best thing to do during a robbery is to give the bandit what he wants and let him get away without anyone being hurt.
