Police Honor Officer Who Died in Line of Duty Six Years Ago

The Corpus Christi Police Department honored the sixth anniversary of fallen Officer Matthew Thebeau on Monday. He was killed in the line of duty on Jan. 20, 2008, at 25 years old.

Thebeau was killed in a car crash on the Crosstown Expressway near Baldwin while responding to a call. His vehicle struck a concrete wall and column, and he was ejected from his vehicle and then struck by another vehicle. He was later pronounced dead at Christus Spohn Memorial Hospital.

Officer Thebeau graduated from the 65th Corpus Christi Police Academy and served with the department for two years.

A park was dedicated and named in memorial to Officer Thebeau. It is located at 3221 Richmond Street near Up River and McKenzie roads.
