Police Searching for Suspect in Compass Bank Robbery

An armed bank robber got away with some cash after threatening employees at Compass Bank on Ayers with a handgun around noon on Friday.

Now, police are asking for your help in tracking down the suspect.

It was around 12:15 p.m. When the bank robber entered the bank and demanded money. He displayed a handgun and told everyone to get on the floor. After getting money from the tellers, he left the bank.

No one was hurt in the robbery, and the suspect was last seen running west from the bank toward the Crosstown Expressway.

"This is a particularly aggressive individual that we certainly want to get behind bars," said Public Information Officer Kirk Stowers with the Corpus Christi Police Department. "We would like to know from anyone who has any information about who this person might be."

The man had taken off the shirt, bandana and hat that he was wearing, and hid the items in the back of a pickup truck. The truck was parked in a hotel behind the bank.

The suspect is described as a white male standing about six-feet tall and weighing 190 pounds. Police are looking at local businesses to see if they have any video that would help catch him.

If anyone has any information, or saw anything unusual before or after the event, please contact the police.
