Police Seek Two Suspects in Early-Morning Hit and Run Accident

Police are on the search for two men involved in a wild morning hit and run accident at Sonora and Sabinas, near Baldwin and Port.

At one point, a man was literally hanging on for dear life.

The incident began around 10 a.m. Witnesses told police that the driver of a gray Lexus ran a stop sign and crashed into a red truck and then a stop sign.

The driver of the red truck got out to check on the driver and passenger of the Lexus, and that's when the driver of the Lexus attempted to reverse his car and flee the scene. The driver of the red truck actually jumped onto the sunroof of the vehicle and held on as the car began to flee.

The Lexus eventually crashed into a parked truck down the road. Miraculously, the driver of the red truck was not injured.

"He was very passionate about trying to get them to stop," said Lt. Edward Longoria of the Corpus Christi Police Department. "We would always caution against that type of incident. Get the license plate down, best description you can. Nothing is worth risking your life or your health for it. That could have gotten a lot worse for him. I'm glad he is okay."

The driver and the passenger of the Lexus fled the scene on foot. They are described as two black males, one in his 30s the other in his 40s. Witnesses said they fled with a couple of beers in their hands. Police suspect alcohol was a major factor in the incident.
