Port of Corpus Christi Celebrates Christmas Early

The Port of Corpus Christi was celebrating Christmas time a little early on Tuesday. They showed up at Menger Elementary Tuesday morning with Santa Claus and the Port mascot, Pocca.

Menger Elementary, along with George Evans Elementary, are part of the Port's Adopt a School program. Every year, they help the schools celebrate the holidays and hold a clothing drive for the students.

"The Port also during this time collects clothing for our adopted school, and we'll be doing that over the next couple of weeks," said Jesse Samu of the Port of Corpus Christi.

"We have a beautiful tree that has been decorated by our students," said Dr. Christine Marroquin, principal of Menger Elementary. "Those ornaments are representative of some of the things they have been learning throughout the first semester."

The Port of Corpus Christi has been hosting the Adopt a School program for the past 15 years. They says it is a way of giving back to the community.
