Portland Police have arrested a suspect involved in a high speed chase. The suspect crashed a vehicle near a church and stole a bystander's vehicle.
The suspect has been identified as 44 year old Travis Warren. Warren was traveling southbound on 181 and exited in Portland on Wildcat, continuing on the side streets.
The suspect somehow crashed into this SUV in front of the Catholic Church. Warren then stopped a passing truck and took it by force leaving the driver behind.
While fleeing, Warren ran a stop sign crashing into a red SUV carrying four kids. He kept going and crashed into another vehicle, a black truck.
A family tried to stop and render aid but the suspect tried to take advantage of their kindness.
Alyssa Moncrief said, "we saw the white truck moving and the guy run out of it . And I guess these people tried to stop and help him and he ended up getting in his car tried to start it and tried to take it."
Warren tried to steal the car of the people who stopped to try and help him.
The good samaritan then tried to pull Warren out of his car.
That is when Warren punched that man and Warren took off running.
He fled on foot into the neighborhood but was arrested by Portland Police.
Warren is currently in the Portland jail waiting to be transported to the San Patricio County Jail.
He is now facing several charges.
