Pregnant Teen Pleads Guilty to Aggravated Robbery of Two Convenience Stores

Miranda Garcia, an 18-year old accused of robbing two Padre Island convenience stores at gunpoint in the span of 30 minutes back in April of 2013, pleaded guilty Monday to charges of aggravated robbery.

It was just July 17 when Garcia chose to reject a plea deal for 15 years in prison. She told 148th District Court Judge Guy Williams that she is four months pregnant and has another child who is being taken care of by cancer-stricken grandparents.

Sentencing has been scheduled to take place in the next three-four weeks.
