Pro-Life Activists Hold Service as Local Abortion Clinic Shuts Doors

Corpus Christi's only abortion clinic is closing its doors, and to mark the occasion, a local pro-life group held a special service at the Coastal Bend Birth Control Center on Morgan and Crosstown Friday.

Dr. Eduardo Aquino, who worked at the clinic, is retiring due to new pro-life regulations signed into law by Governor Rick Perry. Those regulations require all abortion providers to have admitting privileges at a nearby hospital as well as becoming ambulatory surgical centers, or mini hospitals.

Most clinics would have to undergo costly renovations or, like the Coastal Bend Birth Control Center, simply shut their doors.

Kiii News Reporter Anayeli Ruiz went Live from the service, where she spoke to some of the pro-life activists, as well as pro-choice activists, about what the clinic's closing means.
